Taylor Made Sales grads Shedaresthedevil and Jackie’s Warrior both scored emphatic victories on the Kentucky Oaks & Kentucky Derby undercards.
Led by Shedaresthedevil on Kentucky Oaks (G1) Friday, the reigning Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner from 2020 proved her distinction in the older filly/mare division with a triumph in the La Troienne (G1). Her second lifetime Grade 1 victory, Shedaresthedevil is also undefeated in her four-year-old campaign this year. Going off the favorite for Flurry Racing Stables, Qatar Racing Limited, and Big Aut Farm, the Brad Cox trainee went gate-to-wire under Florent Geroux, remaining undefeated on the Churchill Downs surface.
The daughter of Daredevil now has over $1.8 million in earnings. She was bred in Kentucky by Winstar Farm out of the Congrats mare Starship Warpspeed. A Taylor Made sales grad, she was sold as a weanling at the 2017 Keeneland November sale for $100,000.
On Saturday, Jackie’s Warrior then scored an equally impressive victory in the Pat Day Mile (G2) of the Kentucky Derby (G1) undercard. A dual Grade 1 winner as a Juvenile, Jackie’s Warrior was briefly seen on the Kentucky Derby trail earlier this spring.
Stepping back into his comfort zone of a one-turn format, he blazed blistering fractions for the mile (21:3, 43:3, 1:07:4), fighting gamely down the stretch to hold Dream Shake at bay. The Steve Asmussen trainee completed the eight furlongs in 1:34.39 under jockey Joel Rosario for owners Kirk and Judy Robison.
The Maclean’s Music colt has now won five of his seven starts, with earnings nearing $900,000. He was bred by J & J stables out of the A.P. Five Hundred mare Unicorn Girl. Jackie’s Warrior was sold by Taylor Made Sales at the 2019 September Yearling Sale to owner Kirk Robison.
