Tuesday’s closing session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-old sale was another banner day for Midnight Storm and his first crop of foals, with hip No. 430 bringing a winning bid of $325,000.
The dark bay colt, who had worked a furlong in a swift :10 1/5 at the Under Tack show, was consigned by Scanlon Training and Sales, agent, and purchased by Nick Hines, agent for California-based Rockingham Ranch.
Bred in New York, the colt is out of the Dixie Union mare Dixie Dawn, who has already produced five winners and is closely related to GSW and G1-placed Medal Count.
Midnight Storm, who was a graded stakes winner on both dirt and turf, has his first 2-year-olds hitting the track. He’ll be represented on May 20 by the filly Storm Sequence in a Churchill Downs maiden special weight on the grass.
