The winner of 2020’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint (G2), came back to prove his form, displaying a 3-length romp in his 3-year-old debut this summer at Saratoga in the Quick Call (G3). After another emphatic graded stakes victory early October at Keeneland, the Taylor Made sales grad was poised to take on another championship meet at the Breeders’ Cup in Del Mar.
The Wesley Ward trainee was bet down to the 2/5 favorite in the 2021 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1), and he rocketed from the gates with authority, immediately opening up a margin from his competitors in the five furlong event. The bay colt by Uncle Mo held safe the entire trip, rattling off fractions in 22.25, 43.91, with a final time of 55.22 to win by over a length. He also became the 125th Grade 1 winner for Taylor Made sales.
Charmaine’s Mia rounded out the Trifecta, owned by Taylor Made’s racing venture – Medallion Racing.
Golden Pal was bred by Randall E. Lowe, who raced him to his first Breeders’ Cup victory last year. Garnering international interests, Golden Pal raced under the ownership group of Mrs. John Magnier, Derrick Smith, Michael Tabor and Westerberg. He was consigned by Taylor Made at the 2019 Keeneland September Sale.
