Not This Time filly breaks Woodbine track record in 2yo debut

Botta Swing beat the boys and set a new track record at Woodbine on Sunday afternoon in a 4 ½-furlong maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds.

The striking chestnut daughter of Not This Time was also named a TDN Rising Star after putting up a time of :50.94. The prior record of :51 flat was set by future multiple stakes winner Seffeara.

Botta Swing was in the mix for the lead from the outset. She took over for good in the first quarter-mile, then when asked at the top of the stretch, rocketed away from the field to win by four lengths while hand-ridden late.

Botta Swing is owned by Hoolie Racing Stable LLC and Bruce Lunsford and was bred by Kestrel Stud LLC. Her second dam was a full sister to Grade One winner Personal Business, and her fourth dam was a full sister to Secretariat. Botta Swing is also a graduate of the Taylor Made Sales, selling for $160,000 at the 2021 Keeneland September Sale.

Not This Time leads the 2022 Third-Crop Sire list in virtually every category and will be represented in this Saturday’s Kentucky Derby (G1) by multiple graded stakes winner Epicenter and Fountain of Youth S. (G2) winner Simplification.
