NOT THIS TIME’s Last Leaf first in the Game Face S.

Last Leaf earned her third career stakes win in Saturday’s $75,000 Game Face S. at Gulfstream Park, drawing off in the final furlong to win by 3 ½-lengths.

The 3-year-old daughter of Not This Time collected her prior added-money victories at Gulfstream as well; in the Melody of Colors S. in March, and last September in the Hollywood Beach S.

Both of those wins were on the turf, however, while Saturday’s win came on the main track. The compact field of five was fairly tightly-bunched field on the backstretch. Last Leaf was three-wide in a four-way battle for the lead on the turn before asserting herself in upper stretch. She came home a comfortable winner in 1:16.78 for the 6 ½-furlongs.

Owned by Monarch Stables, Inc., Last Leaf upped her record to 5-1-2 in 13 starts, with earnings of $227,902. She was bred by Khalid Mishref Alkahtani is the first foal out of the stakes-placed My Miss Kallie.

Last Leaf is one of six stakes winner this year for Not This Time, who sits atop the 2022 Third-Crop Sire list with $6.2 million in progeny earnings.
